Maki Narita, D.D.S., M.S. 成田真季 is a periodontist (specialist in bone & gums, gum surgery, and dental implants) who is licensed in California, Arizona, Washington, and Japan. After graduating from St. Maur International School in Yokohama in 1988 with an International Baccalaureate Diploma, Dr. Maki Narita went to Showa University School of Dentistry 昭和大学 in Tokyo. Upon graduation, she decided to continue her studies in Dentistry in the U.S. and graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in Los Angeles, CA and received her American D.D.S. in 1998. While working as an associate dentist at several offices, Maki served as a part-time clinical instructor at U.S.C. School of Dentistry. Maki and her sister Dr. Mie Narita 成田美栄 DSC09514together opened a dental office, Narita Family Dental in Torrance and Costa Mesa, CA in 2001. Maki has also been involved in interpretation and translation services specializing in dentistry since 1997. She has extensive experience in consecutive and simultaneous translation for both English and Japanese speaking dentists at universities, conventions, and meetings. After being a general dentist for 12 years, Maki decided to pursue periodontics and has finished the Postgraduate Periodontics Program at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) in 2013. She has also been appointed as lecturer of University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry Department of Peridontics and teaches the 3rd and 4th year dental students.
